When my wife said let’s go and watch the Rocky Horror show at the Storyhouse I didn’t know what to expect but as ever was looking forward to a night out in Chester and to the Storyhouse. I also thought this would be a great place to start for my first In Chester Walls blog. It was our 5th time to watch a show at the Storyhouse since it opened in May 2017.
The storyhouse is such a great space to relax and enjoy yourself. Along with the incredible theatre (there’s not a bad seat in the house) with a great atmosphere, there’s a library, cinema, bar & restaurant. We found the staff to be very friendly and food is very reasonably priced.
Upon arriving I wasn’t sure what to expect, i’d heard that lots of the crowd tend to dress up at Rocky horror show. I’d seen the Rocky horror show on TV years and years ago but couldn’t remember any of it properly. We arrived to a group of people protesting outside who seemed to have some issue with the show? !?! what was more intriguing was another group in front of the protesters blocking them out of view.
Onlookers were treated to a pre show appearance from the cast of of the Rocky horror show. They’d come outside and take a look at what was happening & somebody shouted “let do the time warp” and they duly obliged!!! They had everybody singing and cheering as they did the time warp in from of the ongoing protest and it really lightened the mood….
During the show the crowd who were mainly dressed up (except grumpy old me and a few others) were amazing. Raucous, very passionate and clearly a lot of them were die-hard fans. They knew all the words, sang and danced along and interacted throughout the show. To be honest I lost the story about half way through but that didn’t matter it was still thoroughly absorbing. A great night and again the Storyhouse didn’t disappoint.
